![]() ![]() Why do you feel representation of a variety of people is so important when it comes to writing books and characters? It means learning that you deserve the space that you take up in the world. It also means learning to be proud and accepting of who you are, even if you aren't considered the "norm". What does "Reading with Pride" mean to you?įor me, not only does it mean the basic idea of reading books with a character, or from an author, that isn't neurotypical, able-bodied, white, allocishet. About six months later, I had a book deal. Before I knew it, the idea was growing and I had characters and a lot of research, and the desire to take it further. ![]() with nothing more than "concept: u + gay romance set on the Titanic" and I just couldn't stop thinking about the idea, and from there it just grew. My friend, and editor, Jen, sent me a message at like 1:30 a.m. It was actually rather amusing how "THE BREATH BETWEEN WAVES" came to be. What was your inspiration behind your most recent novel?
